Born in 1984 in Medellín, Colombia, Christian Luján began studying music in the Instituto de Bellas Artes where he played the guitar.
After moving to Portugal in 2007 he attended the Musicology course at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the Singing course at theConservatório Nacional (Lisbon), where he studied with Manuela de Sá and José Manuel Brandão. He finished his degree with distinction.
He continued his studies for a post-graduate diploma at the Flanders Opera Studio in Gent, Belgium under the direction of Ronny Lauwers. Recently he has graduated from the International Opera Academy under the direction of Guy Joosten.
As a member of the studio and the academy he worked with directors such as Peter Konwitscny, Guy Joosten, Vincent Van den Elshout, and Benoit De Leersnyder and the following conductors: René Jacobs, Pietro Rizzo and Yannis Pouspurikas; singers Jose van Dam,Natalie Dessay, Sir Thomas Allen, Ann Murray, Dietrich Henschel, Susan Waters, and pianists Malcolm Martineau and Hein Boterberg.
He performed operatic roles including Albert, Werther/ Jules Massenet (Teatro Verdi di Trieste); Charles Edward, Candide/L.Bernstein (Teatro Nacional de São Carlos); Guglielmo, Cosìfan tutte/W.A.Mozart (Teatro São Luiz) ; Leporello , D. Giovanni/W.A.mozart (Alden Biesen Zomeropera 2014); Papageno, Die Zauberflöte/W.A.Mozart; K. Mauricio, A Morte do Palhaço/Mário Branco and João Brites (Teatro São João); Pinellino, Gianni Schicchi/G.Puccini (Teatro Nacional de São Carlos), Father, Romy Schneider Opera/Joris Blanckaert (Opera Studio) ; Lodovico/Montano, Otello/G.Verdi (Vlaamse Opera); Varsonofjev, Khovansjtsjina/M. Moesorgski (Vlaamse Opera);Rabbit and Prince in Assepoesters droom (Vlaamse Opera children’s production) ; Dottor Grenvil, La Traviata/G.Verdi (Brussels Philharmonic); Vermummte Herr and Otto, Frühlings Erwachen (Flagey, Vlaamse Opera and tour in Belgium) amongst others.
